Homage to Leo Brouwer!!.

Leo Brouwer is one of contemporary music’s living legends. Acclaimed in his youth as one of the all-time great performers of the classical guitar, the Cuban composer is a Honorary Member of UNESCO and is recognised worldwide as the guitar’s most outstanding living composer for the instrument, and as a pioneer in the fusion of musical styles and genres. A selection of leading young musicians honour Brouwer's visit to the UK with a bespoke programme curated by Cuban guitarist Ahmed Dickinson, featuring some of Brouwer's most exciting guitar and chamber works, performed in the heavenly classical guitar acoustic of London's Bolívar Hall in the presence of the composer himself.

Sones y Flores at St Peter's Eaton Square

29th March. 7 PM

'The Piazzolla of Cuban Guitar.' World Radio Geneva | 'A true pioneer.'
Classic FM Magazine

Eduardo Martín’s style has an expansive sense of freedom that taps into pre-Columbian traditions, jazz, flamenco, pop, Afro and traditional Cuban music. The guitar is his favored instrument to mirror the melodic and rhythmic facets of the Americas’ cultural diversity. Ahmed Dickinson Cárdenas took lessons with Eduardo in Cuba, and their friendship and musical empathies have since grown to form a unique project. This recital offers an introduction to of some of Martin’s most alluring works for two guitars, where rock merges with son montunos; old Yoruba chants, feel-good rumbas, funk-boleros, new-age tunes and cinematic pieces sit alongside Cuban tumbaos with slap bass.

Eduardo Martín Acrílicos en la sonrisa | Sones y Flores | Hasta Alicia baila | Mirándote | Suite Antillas | Suite Habana | Aguas profundas | Hasta Alicia baila | Preludio, Rezo y Canto a Obatalá
